CLOSE PROTECTION COURSE OVERVIEW

Ronin™ (SA) provides a Close Protection Course which, due to its multi disciplined nature, is highly relevant to a host of security applications both land based and maritime, be they within either a Hostile or a Medium Risk environment.

Many of our graduates have military & police backgrounds, but this is not a requirement to attend our training. Civilians with suitable background checks, an open mind, disciplined work ethic and a good level of fitness do very well.

 CERTIFICATION
Certification is compliant with the relevant Security Industry Regulatory Authorities for licensing as a Close Protection Officer (South African PSIRA / United Kingdom SIA)

  • Ronin SA Close Protection Certificate
  • SASSETA Close Protection Skills / QCTO Bodyguard Skills Program
    (Permits immediate application for PSIRA registration post-course for SA residents)
  • Qualsafe Level 3 Certificate in First Response Emergency Care (FREC3 ) - NEW 2025 RQF Curriculum with Extended Skills Module
  • PFTC Firearms Certificate (Handgun & Carbine) to Tactical Level

Entry Requirements
  • English proficiency at CEFR B2 level or equivalent.
  • Valid manual driving license (Code B) held for 2+ years.
  • Good physical fitness, tested upon arrival using our Standard Fitness Test.
  • Approved criminal background check.

LOCATIONS & ACCOMMODATION

Our Close Protection Course is run in Hout Bay, Cape Town, South Africa which is a lively coastal town with a lovely swimming beach and a picturesque harbour where you can buy some of the best fish and chips in the world!

Accommodation

Students live in modern self catering apartments sharing a room with a colleague (same gender) close (200m) to the beach, restaurants, shops, gyms, laundry and best of all, the training center.

Meals

We provide for Breakfast and Dinner and both can be taken (via a voucher based system) either at an assortment of local restaurants or via a grocery store on a self-catering basis. Tastes range from Italian to Mexican and all the usual tastes in between!

While we recommend completing the course in one continuous session for the best experience, splitting the course into segments is possible. Please note the following:

  • The course must be paid in full by the start of the first week.
  • All modules must be completed within 12 months of each other.
  • Learners must source their own accommodation; however, we will provide a discount for accommodation not taken.

Tax Rebates & Funding Schemes

Certain countries provide their nationals with tax rebate schemes or even funding assistance. These are in ADDITION to our funding assistance given to Soldiers, Police Officers, Veterans, and Paramedics.

Canada

Learners are able to claim up to 90% of their tuition fee back via their Yearly Tax Return. On request, we will provide a "Tuition Fees Certificate for Educational Institutions Outside Canada for a Deemed Resident of Canada" to the delegate for this purpose.

Australia

Australian service leavers can apply on a case-by-case basis to the Defence Force Transition program for funding for our courses.

United Kingdom

Self-employed professionals and business owners can claim tax relief on training that keeps them current or expands their expertise. More information can be found here

Payment Procedure

Payments can be made via Electronic Funds Transfer by your bank (EFT).

We will require a deposit to secure your place with the remainder of the balance due on/before your arrival.

Completing an Application Form and receiving a Quote is one single step here at Ronin SA. This has one reason only - we only quote candidates that have passed our desktop pre-selection procedure.

Pre-selection simply involves completing a quick, 3 minute questionnaire and includes your eligibility for any discounts.

Once the pre-selection form has been completed, Candidates receive an immediate response.
